A lovely Award.

Greetings - thank you  for visiting.

I have been MIA thanks to a rather nasty 'local lurgy' which has left me feeling less than well for over a week.

BUT

in the middle of this I had an award given to me - but I must confess that this was not the first time it was given - way back in January Bridget gave it to me, and then this week Gunn also nominated me for the

award.

My grateful thanks to you both for thinking my blog is worth it.

The concept of the award and rules are as follows:

The award is given to people with under 200 followers. I have chosen the people above that I follow regularly, their inspiration through their art and life have inspired me everyday and I always look forward to their posts. Sometimes I comment and sometimes I don't but I always visit.

Liebster is German and means 'dearest' or 'beloved' but it can also mean 'favourite'. The idea of the Liebster award is to bring attention to blogs with less than 200 followers. So, in the spirit of good fun I am passing this award on to five other bloggers, please stop by and visit them.

The Rules are:
  1. Show your thanks to the blogger who gave you the award by linking back to them.
  2. Reveal your five picks for the award and let them know.
  3. Post the award on your blog.
  4. Bask in the love from the most supportive people on the blogshare-other bloggers.
Finally and the best rule of all...............have fun and spread the love!

The blogs I am nominating for the award are:

Michelle at Wandering Sissors
Cassandra at Word Art Wednesday
and Cynthia at Stampin' in Alaska

Enjoy - and may your day be blessed.

Trying New Techniques

Welcome once again  - I am so glad to see you visit.

The other day I had time to 'play' and I had been inspired by a technique that  Angela from Card Creations NZ had been trying - she found it at Hero Arts and it is called Velveteen Stamping.

I started out following the tutorial, but decided that the White ink I had used in the background was not white enough, so then I overstamped that with script using Platinum ink........ which jumps out at you!  Not good, but I decided to continue anyway. You can see here it hogs the limelight somewhat.

The flowers are from the discontinued Layers of color Polka Dot Love set. The Ivy is the Silhouette Ivy stamp from Hero Arts.

The Dragonfly stamp is also a discontinued LOC stamp - I deliberately stamped it twice to give an illusion of movement.

A few months ago I won some fun Flock in a blog candy draw  on Alicia's blog, and this is the first time I have used it - on the centers of the large flowers.

The sentiment was gold embossed on bright yellow vellum, and mounted with a lift in the middle.

Pink Cottage Rose

A warm welcome to my visitors again.

I love this image of a Cottage Rose (a retired Layers of Color stamp) and took great delight in using it for this card.

Before I start, I would like to say that the camera has told lies - this card is actually a light purple, and the dark layer is a deep purple - you can just see the purple on the edge of the ribbon.

The image was coloured using chalks, and partially cut out - I did not use the full image as it is  much larger than I wanted to use.

The purple layer is mulberry paper with a gold thread through it - I chose to cut it, not tear it this time.

The pink rhinestones are grouped as they are as I was following a sketch, but did not get the card completed in time - again!  The sheer purple ribbon is absolutely stunning on this card, but I suspect you will have to take my word on that!

The butterflies were snaffled off/up-cycled from a card I had been given - I think they are sissix ones.  The rhinestones I added.

A quick photo of the inside - I don't often decorate the inside of my cards. Ironically the purple ink has shown true to colour here!

Pink Silk Moth

Welcome again to my blog - I am blessed to see you visiting

This image is so dramatic it was left to take centre stage - the silk moth image is a retired one from Layers of Color.

It was embossed in silver over bright pink vellum, had the half pearls added, then it was mounted over Fairy Flora dp.

The sentiment was stamped and sponged with distress ink after being cut with a spellbinders die, and threaded with a pre-stitched ribbon, and layered over lace.

Honey Bees galore

Welcome to my blog - thank you for visiting me - I am humbled that you call by.

I made this using just the one (retired) Layers of Color set, Honey Bee.

The main image is designed to fit into a spellbinders labels 20 die cut.
I painted the image with Twinkling H2O's, and added Kindy Glitz for the sparkle.

The sentiment was stamped onto the same parchment like yellow card as the big image, cut using a Spellbinders classic oval and  mounted over a scalloped oval cut from mulberry paper.

The background was created using the small bee image, randomly stamping it over the kraft card stock and painting them.  This was distressed and sponged, and then I added the torn mulberry paper and ribbon before mounting the images onto it.

Rhinestones were added and the the whole mounted onto a cream card base.

Pink Polka Dotted Flower

Welcome - I am always glad to know you have visited.

Every now and again I make a card that I am 'uber' pleased with, and this is one of those.

I was playing with my Layers of Color stamps and this is the result that I am so happy with.

I started with this flower from the Merci Bouquet  set, stamping it randomly on a cream textured paper in Rich Cocoa ink, and then colouring it with chalks. The edge of the paper was distressed and sponged.

I took three polka dot flower images and the large dotted petals from the Polka Dot Love set and white embossed them onto pink vellum, then fussy cut and layered them together.

The sentiment is from the Happy wishes set and was stamped and cut with a  Labels 14 die from Spellbinders - I ran a gold pen around the  inside edge of the  die before I removed it.

The layered flower was mounted over ribbon, and the whole mounted onto a mid brown base. Pearls were added and the card complete.

Sisters

Welcome once again - this weeks release from McMahon Five Design.com that I have illustrated is a vintage image Sisters

The image was coloured using chalks, and mounted on some medium blue paper to define it.

It is a beautiful image and a joy to use.

I had wanted a paper that did not detract from the image, and found this in a pad of paper by Kaisercraft.  it is very subtly coloured, but has a glorious embossed surface on it.

The lace is ecru IRL and the ribbon and pearls a rich cream colour.

The card was finished with some more pearls in the corners.

And some punched  butterflies and pearls flying off the top corner of the image.
